The next IPAW workshop will take place in Santa Barbara, California during the week of 18-22 June 2012. IPAW is a a bi-annual event highlighting the state of the art in provenance research.

As at previous IPAW workshops, there are a number of co-located events including a tutorial on the provenance specifications from the W3C, and meetings of DataONE and the W3C Provenance Working Group.

Co-located Events

Keynote

We are excited that Dr. Philip E. Bourne (http://www.sdsc.edu/~bourne/) has agreed to keynote IPAW. He will be talking about provenance in practice in his lab.

Dr Bourne is a Professor in the Department of Pharmacology and Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of California San Diego, Associate Director of the RCSB Protein Data Bank. He is a Past President of the International Society for Computational Biology. He is an elected fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), the International Society for Computational Biology (ISCB) and the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA). He is the co-founder and inaugural and current Editor-in-Chief of the open access journal PLoS Computational Biology and a long standing member of the National Science Foundation, National Institutes of Health and Genome Canada panels responsible for reviewing proposals relating to computational biology. He is co-founder SciVee Inc. ( www.scivee.tv) and has been a leader in encouraging new models of publication.
